COCOA, FL — Get ready for a brand-new holiday tradition! Modern Day A Christmas Carol brings a vibrant, contemporary twist to Charles Dickens’ classic story, reimagined through culture, humor, and heartfelt storytelling.
This fun-filled stage production—rewritten by Charlotte Perkins and Valencia Perkins, produced by Marilyn Ross Smith of Miiyah (Me-I-Yah) Productions, and directed by Franchesca Brown and Valencia Perkins—breathes new life into the beloved holiday tale. Audiences will meet Ebony Scrooge, a cold-hearted beauty shop owner whose world turns upside down when she is visited by the spirited presence of her deceased former partner, Barbara Marley.
“This production is more than just a play — it’s an experience,” said Co-Writer Charlotte Perkins. “We wanted to capture the heart of the classic story but present it in a way that feels relatable, modern, and deeply entertaining for today’s audience. It’s a celebration of community, transformation, and the true meaning of Christmas.”
